Bear tank viability 1-60

Are Druid tanks solid leveling tanks all the way to 60?
Also, I know they are lacking at end game but are there any bear tank raiders on the server?

they aren't boss tanks but they are useful for tanking trash and dungeons

They're okay in 5mans, but nobody will let you tank a raid unless you outgear it; warriors are so much better.

Druid tanks are fine in raids. They're actually very easy to heal if geared appropriately and very versatile. We run 2, they are primarily DPS and there to provide crit aura to DPS groups but we do also use them to tank. Grayclaw tanked Ragnaros for us the other night for funsies, but that isn't a fight I would say it's normal to have druids tank on - Broodlord for example though having druid tanks works out really nicely.
The thing is though if you play feral you can't just say "I want to be a bear all the time". You have to be excellent in all 3 potential roles.

Never said they're bad, just that Warriors are better, and will be preferred most of the time. You shouldn't expect to MT as a druid.

They lack oh shit buttons for (raid) boss tanking, for lvling it's all good.

if you wana tank with druid or paladin in raids you only have to work harder for tanking gear

We've had a beartank as OT in mc for a While now. He even tanked a few Bosses. As a bonus, there is less prot warriors Sharing the loot too. On Feenix we had a beartank in bwl and aq40 aswell.

As far as I remember, bear tanks are lacking in the early parts of raiding (i.e where we are now), but get hella stronk because of their armor gain and dodge percentage?
I have memories of doing AQ and naxx with bear tanks who basically didnt take damage because of being virtually dodge capped.
Not gonna CONFIRM this ofc, since I didnt give a fuck about druids, and when I played one I healed like I was supposed to.
