Is it possible of a GM to hand the title of the guildmaster to an officer? There seem to be no indications of his return.

Nope, sorry. All you can do is to appeal to the guildmaster to promote someone to GM.

I guess that means we'll have to survive without a guildmaster or just eventually disband. Shame!

Or you could start a new guild, change the message of the day to tell what has happened and that there's a new guild, which everyone is welcome to join etc.
