Are we gonna have enough people to Pvp?

by alucard001 » Tue Jan 27, 2015 6:57 pm

Hello folks. I play Wow basically for the pvp, and i wanna know if are we gonna have enough people to play a good pvp (having AV and so).

Developers said AV wouldnt be released after the end of a raid (i dont remember which one, i think it was Onyxia's lair), anyway if they said this, it is because AV is gonna be played in the server.

As you all know, Emerald dream is the only vanilla playable server with a decent population. I was going to log in right know and give up about nostalrius, but i just read in its bug tracker that Ret abilities doesnt scale with Sanctity aura and spell damage. So i just prefered to wait Nostalrius to be released.

Obviously if there is no people to get into bg i wont play here, but i guess that if Nostalrius is so good as you all say people from other realms will be comming with us and this will grow up extremely great.
Anyway, I think that when a long time has passed on Nostalrius, players from other servers who have gear, could transfer their Character to this one. That would make an incredible increase of Nostalrius population.

That wouldnt be able at the beggining, just because we have gear's rectrictions, but they could be rewarded with an instant 60 with D1 gear or so.

Just think about that if Nostalrius is so good as is expected to be, we will be the best Vanilla community together.

Im pretty sure there will be enough people for AVs. There is like 500 people participating in the test sessions and half the community cba with testing and are waiting for the release. One of the staff posts said there is 3066 subscribers to the project.

We are all here for PvP I hope, as server should be PvP. By the time AV releases we will already have rich world PvP ˝history˝ :) In my opinion, healthy population in the long run will depend more on how well it all works - scripts, level of polish etc. - than on initial numbers. By the way you can help with PvP numbers by sharing info with friends or saying a word or two here or there on the internet.

PS Speaking of potential Nostalrius players - we are still virtually invisible (!!) on typical ˝I want to inform myself about Vanilla˝ places such as Vanilla WoW Reddit (just compare it with our - sometimes quite aggressive - friends from Kronos), but at least things started happening on Nostalrius Reddit.

There were about 450 unique users for the last test, and the server has over 1,000+ facebook likes (although can be manipulated, is probably our most accurate estimate available). That said, battleground queues won't be an issue (especially at the start, and potentially ever if the scripting is good enough to retain new players and minimize turnover).

Keeping this in mind, I don't see the need to import characters EVER. It doesn't matter if these characters are from Beta or from other servers. It will create backlash within the community, people will feel as if they've been treated unfairly, and it could potentially create a whole host of other problems.

You mention creating the best vanilla community out there, but I am genuinely curious how this could ever be obtained using the strategy you've laid out. Making all your most loyal members level from day one, only to give a bunch of ED/Valk/Whatever players free 60s a few months later would be nothing but negative. Honestly, all you'd really do is artificially inflate server population for a very short period of time.

Essentially, these people would have little to no respect for the staff, server, or community. They'd also be less inclined to stay around (after all, they didn't work for their character) after they've experienced what they want. This would be nothing more than a cheap gimmick to steal players from other servers and imho could only produce negative results in the long run.

Side note: Isn't this more of a suggestion?

This^

If the scripting the is the best in the private server scene, then the server will speak for itself and bring players in. I am looking forward to the release of this server.

Exactly. The main issue of Feenix servers is the support and the bugs. There are a lot of very important bugs, like the dmg scaling of the Ret abilities, and they haven't done anything for a year.

If this server really offers high quality, im sure a lot of people will go here from other servers.

PD: Yeah, my first post was just another suggestion.

AV will have to wait until you have enough players in the highest bracket(50-60), which will take a while post release. Leveling in Classic with 1x rate is quite slow. No one that hasn't played back then has any idea how slow it was. For most players, it took months to get to 60. You had to put in hours every single day, and even then, it could take a whole month. Until enough players level up, you'll have to settle for other BGs or hunting out in the world. The good news is that with a fresh start on the server, everyone will be in low levels out in the world, and low level BGs might be possible until the brackets eventually thin out. Rolling on a fresh server with everyone in the low levels was always the most fun way to play WoW.

Frostmages and hunters can level extremely fasty. Seen stuff like 6+ levels for day.
