				.....leveling a hunter
I was planning on mage or warrior but I know what the 1-60 grind is like and hunters are just too tempting for it.
Talk me out of it before it's too late!

1-60 is far easier and quicker as a mage. Hunter is nice though, with a couple of macros it's send pet/pewpew/win/loot/continue watching film on second monitor.

Why does the 1-60 period matters so much? It's not like you are only going to play for a month... Or are you?

if you are slower than a mage, you are doing it wrong. Maybe until lvl 10.

I only got my mage to level 30ish back in retail vanilla but my memory of it was painfully slow with drinking after every pull. Although I was the very definition of noob back then, but still, is that not the way vanilla mage leveling goes?

I guess he ment mage is considerably easier than warrior. Warrior up to 40 is a pain, incomparable to any other class. Nothing beats the ease of a hunter for leveling, with warlock coming in second.

My main will be a druid and honestly, they level pretty quickly once Cat form is obtained at 20. Assuming that the server has enemy NPC's not change their facing after being stunned, level 36+ is where things really take off. You can take the feral talent to increase stun time from a Pounce and with the talents for a cheaper Shred cost, you can Pounce - Feral Faerie Fire - Shred x2 before they're able to turn for a high burn of damage, assuming you're wearing a lot of Agility / Str gear.
Pop out of cat form after every 3 or 4 mobs for a Regrowth / Rejuv self cast, return to cat, and keep going. No need for food or drink.

In my memory, it goes like this. Warlock>hunter>feraldruid>rest of melee>rest of ranged
