Does anyone know if there is an add-on or any way to mute the engine sound of the Mechanostrider mount?

IIRC there is no way to mute individual sound files, no.

Can't you replace those sounds with silence, same way gun silencer addon works?

No, modifying the game files in any way = ban, sadly.

You don't modify files, but replace them indirectly without changing any files. If i recall correctly, you just have to place sound files in WoW client's Data directory with same path they have in MPQ files and WoW client will use them instead. This obviosly works only for non-protected files, that don't have checksum signature in mpq or something along those lines.

Here's working addon or rather, "package" to silence mechanostrider:

It replaces idle sound of mechanostrider with silence.
