How would anyone know if the gold was bought? For example, if I have a friend in the game who gives me gold and it turns out he bought the gold, how would I know that?

Personally I think it's a crap shoot. No one really knows how they determine whether or not a "friend" gave you the money, and how do they track money exchanges for gold? Do they track paypal and other money services .. or is it just a hunch?

The other day a guildie opened up my trade and tried to give me 50g for my mount (I'm 46 and still walking around lol .. it annoys them). I shut that trade window down so fast his head prolly spun. I do not want to take any chance for a "misunderstanding" on the developers side. I'd rather walk.

The ban hammer comes down often on this server, and although I know there are definite gold buyers/sellers that get their well-deserved ban, there are some that I have doubts about. It's always best to err on the side of extreme caution if you don't want to give up days of play.

You don't want to be that person who comes here claiming a "friend" gave you the gold because that story is a common one, and the ban almost always remains.

Greetings,

You will not be banned for giving 10g to your friend as long as neither you nor your friend are involved in gold buying or selling.

It is possible to trip automated gold seller detection systems with large amounts of gold (1000's). In cases where that happens, we remove the bans from those accounts once an appeal is launched in this forum and the case is investigated.

Regards, GM Team.

well said and personally I don't think it's the gms fault. It seems like whatever anti-cheat they are using to detect this is just over-sensitive. I still waiting on an appeal to get approved by the mods to be reviewed for my horde level 1 mule that ate a ban immediately after putting some items up in the horde AH that I transferred from my alliance main thru neutral AH. I couldn't find anything in the terms of use before I did this to warrant any action taken against me. So yeah if you think there might even be a tiny chance of getting a ban for something don't do it because people are eating bans left and right for doing nothing wrong

Keep in mind that people are not always honest when presenting their appeals, or when providing information to the staff. There will always be some mistakes, we're all human. But, to say that people are getting banned left and right for no reason is not only an exaggeration, it's also a wild assumption. We don't see all of the evidence for these appeals.

I don't necessarily disagree with you but I have had my account banned twice in less than 2 weeks by triggering the anti cheat for whatever reason be it having to much gold on low level char or whatever. I am not accusing the gm staff here of wrong doing or power tripping and I think they are doing an excellent job. I am talking about the non-human aspect of the anti-cheat programming in place. I just think it is set too sensitive and people are triggering it and eating bans for no reason seemingly every day. I mean just look at the shear amount of appeals posted everyday. I really doubt that many people are behaving nefarious knowing how easy it is to get banned here. I'm sure there are plenty of bad players breaking rules eating justified bans with evidence we don't see but that's simply not what I am talking about here.

Ok I gotcha. When you said "eating a ban", I took it to mean a permanent ban. You're right, but it's unfortunately a necessary evil.
