Can't log in, possible false positive ban.

Can't log in, possible false positive ban.

When I try to log into game, the client says "disconnected from server."

When I try to log into website, the error message is "Login failed! Bad credentials." The website allowed me to change my password (I thought I was maybe entering my password incorrectly, or maybe a hacker stole my password), but I continue to get the same error message.

I'm not sure if I got caught up in the recent gold selling/buying ban wave possibly by mistake. If I was, it was possibly because I sent 150~250 gold from my characters "Bestbanktwo" and "Bestbanktres" to "Bestbankalt" on the PVE server. I had many bank alts because I was planning to level up blacksmithing and engineering on my main characters; instead I got lazy and decided to liquidate all the stored up mats. I had bank alts spread across two accounts since I make a lot of alts, and I never multibox-leveled myself (only logged in both accounts to transfer gold or items). Speaking of my alts, I also transferred gold from some alts I don't play much anymore to "Bestbankalt." These alts are named "Shinymetalax" and "Earlgreyhot" also on the PVE server. But this was a small sum as to be almost irrelevant (imo), 25~35 gold or so.

I also somewhat recently sent a random rogue seven low level lockboxes to open, and he lagged out / couldn't trade back the items. I didn't care enough to see the end of this transaction and told him to keep it.

Maybe about three weeks or a month ago I traded 20 arcanite bars for 360 gold or so to someone in /world. Probably not relevant, but I thought I'd include this transaction anyways. Regrettably, I sold the bars for a discount since I was getting impatient (but this could not possibly be a bannable offense?)

I also connect through a vpn, if that is relevant.

Greetings,

The character's listed on the pve server have never been banned. You can only log into the website from the same ip that you used last time you logged into the game. Your vpn may be the problem.

Thanks for the quick reply. It indeed seems like my vpn was why I could not log in before. I can connect when I switch my vpn off.

This leads to my second question: Is the vpn I was using now banned from connecting to Nostalrius? (The vpn service is called Anonvpn, btw). I often experience lag that is cleared up by using a vpn.

Greetings,

This is likely due to the new country IP lock mechanism, put in place to help protect accounts from hackers. You can change the country lock setting by requesting a password reset at https://en.nostalrius.org/password. It will send you an E-mail, and when you click on the link in the E-mail, you will need to update your password and select a new country lock setting.

If the country lock is not suitable for your situation, then set it to 'No Country Lock' and make sure the password you choose is complex.

Please make sure to read the Nostalrius terms of use. https://en.nostalrius.org/terms-of-use
