It's absolutely ridiculous. I'm not sure what causes it but it means that hunter pets with this bug can't be hit by anything other than white auto attack damage. They can't be gouged, sheeped, stunned, or simply bursted down. All a hunter has to do in a BG is send his pet after your healer and the entire group has to stop and auto attack it to death or it'll shred the healer without the possibility of being CCed or kited.

I'm certain that the thing causing it is known and must have been reported in the tracker. But the devs have order priorities than fixing simple bugs
