I wanted to level my toon's alchemy, so I made eight stacks of minor healing potion and went to the Coldridge spawning area and announced in General that any toon who wanted to meet me there could have a stack of 5 totally free of charge. Nice thing to do for a bunch of level 1-5s about to face the trolls in the troll cave; right?

Oops. I managed to give away only six of the eight stacks, and most went to toons at least level 7, who ran over from Dun Morogh. One guy was level 14! The lowest level toon that took me up on it was level 5. All the super lowbs just ignored me and even ran right past me without seeming to notice that they could have had five life-saving healing potions for nothing.

I'm not bothered by this, but I'm curious. When I roll a new dwarf or gnome, healing pots are like gold. Why aren't lowbs interested in them?

Honestly the quests prior to level 8 usually hand-hold so much that it's hard to get in a bad spot unless you get respawns on top of you. Every zone does have that one early cave that can get a little dicey but not too bad. I usually don't even need to use a potion until 15+.

Also, yeah, most of the level 1-5 chars are China gold spammers. They hit level 5 then run to the nearest major city to spam trade chat. Even on PvE server there were Chinese leveling up, and 3 of them sitting in the doorway to Org spamming trade just last night. Saw it myself as I was leveling up a disenchanter bank alt to 5.

On PvE Server alliance side, I've played at all times on the 24-hour clock and the only spam I've seen is "depreciate." Is it because I haven't disabled my spam filter or because I play alliance?

I also find that there's lots of legit levelling toons, including a fair number of people who are new to WoW and getting their first taste of it on Nostalrius. I've had some excellent experiences grouping up for tough quests at low levels and exchanging mutual benefits. The statement that "most of the level 1-5 chars are China gold spammers" is simply not true. There's tons of legit lowbs out there.
