This happens every day during the Asian peak hours, you can sit in "Retrieving character list" for hours.

04:30 Servertime until 10:00 Servertime - the majority of people online are playing from the eastern Asia region and have such high pings and lags that nobody else can log on during this time. We just get "Retrieving character list" for hours.
During the other hours they also provide lag but not in the same extent as early mornings when they are the majority online.
In my past experience any serious gaming server has gotten rid of the players with too high MS/asked them to get better internet speeds before playing there, because they only decrease the quality of gaming for the other players like me with 30 ms would need his computer to answer with packets of 400+ MS to get my action sent to the server. Which leaves me with every time I use an ability on or near a player with that amount of ping my client would channel my instant cast for the time of MS/lag the other guy has. Meaning an instant cast for me that would take 30-50ms to land now takes 0.4sec or more.

The Quality of the server has decreased by a whole lot with these past enrollments of new players from new regions of the world.

Also many people from these places in the world have a quite different mentality when it comes to overfarming in mmorpg games. Which leaves the server completely empty afterwards looking from a farming PoV. It's been really hard getting the consumables i need for raids for these past few weeks cause every spot of farming is taken over by at least 5 non-english speaking laggers farming that spot 24/7.

The only reason for me to farm that much in a game i lag that much in, would be to sell the golds on the internets. (My PoV)

Have the same Problem actually.... so it is definetly a Problem of the Server or its anyway possible that the problem is within our pc´s ?

This happens at 05:30AM server time (8:30pm PST) because they do a backup of the server at this time. It takes like 30-40 minutes to complete. They posted about this on their AMA that they did on reddit.

You do realize that none of what you said is true right? From my understanding of it the reason why it takes so long at this time is because the login server goes down everynight to perform a character database back up and with so many chars created it take quite some time...
