It also matters because there is precedence for it being successful. For example take a look at https://www.change.org/p/jagex-games-st ... -runescape which resulted in Jagex implementing legacy servers for Runescape.

I'm not sure if you're aware, but Blizzard certainly is - Change.org doesn't verify credentials to cast a vote of support on a petition. I know people who have signed it multiple times and have openly admitted to it. While the letter itself was well thought out, to the point and indeed not a waste of time.. the petition itself will fall on deaf ears no matter how many people end up signing it. Raising awareness can be done without the likes of a petition with X amount of unsubstantiated signatures.

What newspaper? I assure you what little media attention we got will soon be over and the fat cats that sit on the board of directors over at Activision/Blizzard aren't even paying it any attention.

However, change a law that makes it legal to have communities like this exist.. They'll be shitting their pants.

World of Warcraft (Blizzard) isn't failing - they're thriving in a monetary sense. The private servers that exist(ed) do not exceed the player base Blizzard has on live, doesn't even come close. You can not compare a game that the CEO admitted failure on and heavily discounted to the likes of World of Warcraft.. lol.

Wait what? Didn't you just say the opposite of this in your previous post? And "all of it's glory" wouldn't be quite the experience if you could pay to have a 60, would it?

It wouldn't bother me if people wanted to buy instant level 60. I would play the game how I wanted to. If others want to pay for it, then so be it. It's a sacrifice of my values i would make to enable a vanilla legacy server to exist in this day and age. I would indeed be able to play the game in all its glory as I wanted.

Times change. We have to accept this. Its a hard pill to swallow but perhaps neccesary if our dream of a legacy server is to exist.

If blizzard said "OK we're going to sell T1,2 & 3 gear sets and Grand Marshal & High Warlord Titles" then I would completely give up on Legacy servers. Instant level 60 isn't that bad compared to what I just mentioned imho.

I'm glad you feel this way - most people who played here don't. This is why no one is jumping ship to servers who grant insta 60s or increased EXP rates. This isn't "Blizz Like", this takes away from the fundamental game that once was. We're all waiting around and hoping for a rebirth (no pun intended/not advertising for this project) of what this server was.

I only feel this way because - as you pointed out - Blizzards business model has changed. If we want to make legacy servers a reality we have to be realistic.

There will always be private servers for people to play on, however you run the risk of what happened here at Nost. If Blizzard makes official legacy servers then there is no risk. your progress and characters are safe. Not only that but the free hard work of the devs and support team is safe too. My heart goes out to the Nost team after all the effort they put into this project completely selflessly. They deserve to be treated better than simply shut down and discarded.

We're getting off topic now, but please understand I will most likely continue to support private servers if Blizzard is unwilling to introduce Legacy servers.

I just wanted to make the point that the petition is probably the only way to influence Blizzard. Let them know there is a market for it. We should encourage everyone interested to sign the petition, not discourage it.

Of course it doesnt matter ... Blizzard showed they dont care about customers long ago let alone care about people who dont pay them. The thing that Blizzard is doing wrong is they are enforcing the ideas of the new Developers/Staff and the old Core employees have little to say. That is why the game is degrading and that is why we wont see Old content from the in the future! New Blizzard employees hate the fact that people like old content better then the new sparkly shit they come up with ... if you want proof see the face of this guy while he is replying

I think the premise that "Blizzard doesn't care" is entirely incorrect. I truly believe that there are a number, if not the majority, of people inside the Blizzard building that are incredibly sympathetic to Nostalrius and the overall desire to relive the game they created in the first place.

The petition was made as a way to rally the entire wow community around the idea of legacy servers and to encourage Blizzard to renew their stance on such servers - whether that is through official servers that Blizzard itself runs or perhaps a license they give to certain servers to run one for them. While there has been no response yet from Blizzard officially, we truly believe that those within Blizzard have heard our voice and the petition is one avenue in which they have heard it. So please, don't tell me that the petition doesn't matter. It does, even if it doesn't end up getting the response we desire.
