Interesting topic, since I actually did choose to play Vanilla as an experiment in battling depression. See, I was given a BDI (it's a questionnaire that evaluates likelihood of depression), and "qualify" for medium to strong depression, maybe dysthymia [edit: I am currently awaiting further diagnosis on that matter]. Additionally, I suffer from crippling social anxiety.
In the mean time, I've taken to running to alleviate the symptoms, and as another venue, I had re-started an old character on Nost. Within the short time I've played there, I was at least able to get a bit of a grip on my social anxiety - I grouped up with people, ran dungeons. I had the feeling it helped me a bit, and I felt able to reach out and communicate with people because I had a reason to (and the people were really nice).
In any case, I guess that's done with. At least Blizzard can't break my legs to keep my from running -.-.
