What do you think? Will most people transfer to TBC?

by Simonich » Sat Jan 30, 2016 12:06 pm

I have just realised that BC will be much more exciting for me, as id love to world pvp there with those outland objectives, and since the way of earning gear is much more simple and easy for a guild like mine, i think id much rather play there.

Well, its inevitable that most people really want to get gear, and since im leading a world-pvp guild, we will either have to get ourselves thrown into honor-grinding in bgs or pve stuff, so through our main action, we get no gain in power.

Although i truly dont mind having an army full of green-geared bloodthirsty orcs on my side, many people still appreciate gear. And the fear for DHKs in vanilla disturbs me as well on city invasions and such, as many of my comrades just gotta rank up to get at least some blues and the game turns against us at this point.

I think in tbc i wont have such issues, as earning gear is relatively less grindy, right? You can go to a bg and farm currency that wont go down because you dont focus on it, unlike vanilla where you soon start to get in danger of deranking, whereas for playing less it becomes impossible to earn stronger pvp gear. Whereas in tbc i think even a casual player can get the at-least proper pvp gear from battlegrounds, right?

Right now im having people passing on world pvp events cause "gotta farm some good honor this week" or leaving for PvE guilds cause they want proper gear.

Alright, enough rant, i wanted to ask, do you think the majority of vanilla players will copy their characters and mainly play in tbc, or do you think that vanilla nostalrius will end up still having a higher population?

It'd be retarded for nost to extend itself into TBC with Corecraft releasing in 2021.

I'll be playing on both, and maybe that's why you don't split our poulation into a second PvP server... you want to have both a robust Vanilla and TBC server when you launch TBC.

In terms of gearing model, yeah I definitely prefer the TBC approach for PvPers. I just don't have the time to grind in Vanilla for high ranks.

I am a bit of an altaholic. I guess my approach will likely be to elevate a class/spec that I like that isn't Vanilla-viable into the TBC server, and still progress the remainder of my toons on Vanilla.

Im waiting for a great TBC Server with a high pop for years. There is no well blizzlike tbc server atm to play serious arena. If NOS release their TBC Server with 10k+ online players it will be a great place to play arena! Cant wait for that.

Of course, WoW was at its absolute prime in TBC.

Here for classic, if i'd want TBC, i'd go to Excalibur WoW. Besides Corecraft will release at some point ( or will it >:D )aswell, so yeah. People came here for classic, some may ofc be into TBC, but there will always be new people coming and old ones leaving. It's not like the population is bloody static, so there's your answer.

Wow is designed to keep people grinding, TBC won't make it any less of a grind. Gear is more attainable but now there is even more gear to get such as: trinkets, rings, belts, necks, offhand / shield, relic / bow / idol, special mounts etc. Every new PvP season all of your gear will become outdated and the grind starts from scratch. Not to mention that you require X amount rating before you can actually purchase some items.

The other issue that TBC brings is much bigger. When you go out to do WPvP everybody will be in the air on their flying mounts. In TBC the most visited area is a neutral zone, Alliance and Horde will walk together as if they are friends.

There are WPvP objectives such as the towers in Terokkar Forrest. The WPvP objectives always felt like a chore to me but maybe it'll be fun with 10K people online. Even though WPvP makes a big decline in TBC it still offers a ton of fun content and I'll be waiting for it.

Even though flying mounts kinda kill it for me indeed, i can imagine i will still enjoy capturing all those objectives to offer the buffs to all those players in outlands. Thats a big thing. For that reason, there will be resistance, and im gonna enjoy fighting that resistance.

And all those quest givers..yes..

And at least that grind isnt a distraction from joining world pvp events. You gotta grind more honor than the decay each week in pvp. You probably have to go pve spec and get in a raiding guild in pve.

While in tbc, you will just go do some bgs, and if an event pops, you join it, you can continue grinding whenever you want, no progress lost, no need for attendance

Obviously you didn't play during BC? World PvP dies there.
