Clarification on Felwood announcement

by Mryul » Wed Mar 16, 2016 8:16 pm

"Last weekend, 3 players were banned for duping specific quest items in Felwood. After the research done by players, it appeared that this bug isn't a major one and as a consequence, cannot lead to a permanent closure of an account.

As a result, those 3 accounts are now unbanned. The following items gathered will be deleted from their accounts. From what we saw of the accounts, some of them already have a "last warning" applied prior to the ban, so please check the Terms of Use and feel free to report any abnormal issues in-game. A log has been applied to monitor abusers and a fix is going to be applied in order to prevent any players from abusing this mechanism again.

Best regards."

tl;dr It's considered a minor bug and future abuse is not allowed.

Question:

Does this also apply to the Songflower buff? Can you tell us how you want us to approach getting this buff?

Cheers. By the way, you handled the situation just fine.

+1 To this, I am still unsure about the buff.

You dont need to dupe anything to get the buff, just click an item.

Lag or not, as far as I am aware you 2 people cant loot an item at the same time if there is only 1 item, it isnt duping. People don't have to dupe, abuse mechanics or do anything abnormal to get the buff, you just click an item, clickable by multiple people and receive buff. There are numerous references to it being used in vanilla, and allowed by vanilla devs.

I really don't see how behavior allowed by blizzard can be seemed as a bannable offense by people trying to run a "blizzlike" server.

And as stated above, the answer is very vague. Am I allowed to get the songflower buff without fear of an account ban or not?

Your best bet is to assume it does until the GMs explicitly say otherwise.

The plants mechanics are the exact same, only difference is you get a buff instead of tubers. I think it's safe to assume that it's not allowed

You can't claim this is a blizz like server, if people get banned for getting the buff which was allowed on the blizz servers. The world first KT kill used the "exploit." It would be laughable that this was happening, if it was not such a big deal... If this is banable, they need to create a list of in game mechanics that were allowed on the blizz servers which Nostalrius will ban you for using, and pin it to the forums.

How many raids are there each week? times that with 40, subtract the slackers and then compare that number with 403* times the amount of vains there is in the zone......
That is going to be one rare as fuck raid buff.. Have fun sitting offline for 3-4 days just because you were lucky enough to find a flower T_T

*silly math and spherical cow's says that's the amount of spawns a single vein will have in a week

that's why it's termed "blizzlike" and not "exactly the same as retail vanilla in all aspects of the game".. There are obvious differences between Nostalrius and retail vanilla, but it is still the most similar reincarnation of retail, and by far the best option available.
I personally think that they should just allow people to raid buff via Songflower, and only limit the tubers to single use. The population of this server warrants a work-around for songflower buff, plus it's a much different case than tubers considering the tubers are a usable item that can be stockpiled and not a 1 hour buff.
If they were to vastly increase the spawn timers of the songflowers than I think it would not be an issue, but as it stands right now it's kinda unreasonable to not allow people to multi-buff using songflowers on a server that has 10 or more times the raiding population of blizzard vanilla servers, and probably 50 times as many raiders utilizing the songflower buff.

So you unbanned these guys who had last warnings already tagged on their account for something minor whereas all the silithus miners are still banned indefinitely for something a lot less minor. K
