What is with the lag exactly? I've only been on this server for a week, but all was well till the second half of the week. I literally can not go anywhere trying to level. I end up in combat for 30 seconds before it even draws what is hitting me ... I've given it 3 days to go back to how it was initially but, this now seems to be permanent?

I have tried deleting my cache, no different. Have disabled all addons but same thing. Ping is same as it was for the first few days when things were no where near this bad. Have turned all other PCs / devices off in the house incase its being caused my end but no different.

Anything else I can try?

It's not on your end. Server is overpopulated, most recently by a large influx of Chinese players. The amount of people that are online rght now, around 10.000 people, is more than double the population that Blizzard had in mind when designing the world.

Nostalrius' fallacious argument is that "Overpopulation doesn't hinder gaming experience" is disproven time after time. They had to go for non-blizzlike spawn rate of nodes, devilsaurs and such, just to counter the issue. And as time goes by, watch them tweak further and further away, trying to accommodate this number.

The draw distance issue is a band-aid fix to avoid massive latency that would otherwise take place when 10k clients are loading NPCs, nodes and other items. Even with it, you still have a full second delay in pvp.

Tbh mate, if you're not yet past level 40 or so and spent money getting a mount, do yourself a favour and reroll in the PvE Server. I didn't do it when the pve server hit because I foolishly thought "dang, I'm at level 35, can't lose this". Now with 50 days of /played, the decision is just harder and harder to take.

Might suck for you if you like world pvp. I'm largely indifferent regarding that part, neither hot for it nor against it. But even if wpvp was a factor for me, you simply can't do it at all here right.

I rolled the PvP server because PvE and protection from the Enemy everywhere you go is ... lame, to say the least. Thanks for the heads up tho. Guess I may not have a choice in the matter.

Not a problem mate. Hope it helps you take a more informed decision.

If you are going to be super casual then yes, sure, that could work, but it would probably be quite a few months before you are even going to hit 60.

I would also, with the quality of the PvP realm at this point - or lack thereof - recommend you rolling on the PvE realm. Boring as it is at least you have OK performance.
Greatness, at any cost.

I would recommend joining the PVE server due to the delay in NPCs to show. sadly that is the case right now seemingly due to the overpopulation on the PVP server...
I may reroll PVE server if it stays unchanged. gonna miss getting ganked for no reason though.

I choose a bad time to start. Currently server has huge influx of chinese and lagging badly pretty much 24/7. I'd say wait until something is done about it

Just a heads up to clear this:

-Yes the chinese are bad, don't talk tend to stick to themselves.

-Now for the LAG. I don't know where ure playing from, but i've had very little if any server lag.
It will be down to the fact that I am EU based and i imagine alot of you are from the US. The servers are in France so, when you consider the distance and the player count your gona get some sort of lag.

I also have superfast fibre optic broadband... some of us are lucky i spose.

PvE server is absolutely worth playing on. It's a shame that Nostalrius don't offer the same blizzlike experience for it's PvP community as it does for it's PvE community.

Basically if you want to world PvP right now then you're stuck with an annoyingly broken, less-blizzlike experience inherently stemming from Nostalrius' refusal to accept that artificially inflating the population cap is an asinine design feature and has caused far more problems than it's solved.
