But i was smart enough to test the waters by selling a blue item for cheap (they seem to only buy blues as the stack of herbs that usually costs 12g in AH didnt sell at 1c for a minute before i cancelled) and boom the quicksnipers are active as they can be. I waited for some minutes to an hour and tested it again but they were still active. Note that i try to transfer stuff to the other faction at the not so populated time.

So i logged my lvl 60 in and killed every single lowlvl standing near the AH that stays for more than 5 minutes. But after like 30 minutes i figured out it was all for naught as even when they are all dead the sniping still went on. So i hearthed and continued farming. I then filed a ticket asking if those snipers are legit (quicksnipers snipe AH in less than a second after posting) and in less than 5 minutes a GM replied saying he will be checking and banning those guys if proven guilty of botlike activities. I gladly gave him the names and in just a moment he went on and banned those botlike AH snipers but the ones who seem to snipe manually were spared. I reported some names and 5 lowlvls got banned. The GM even taught me to use /who winterspring 1-30 and so on (neutral AH are in stranglethorn tanaris, and winterspring) to check if there are possible snipers online and to immediately report them by filing a ticket so they would get banned.

I just want to share this story to tell those who transfer goods to the opposite faction to check for possible snipers, report them, and test the waters with a blue that will not cost much before transferring your stuff. Let's help each other out by getting these bad guys banned.

This will also serve as a message to those who are freely sniping AH using scripts that your days are counted. I will most likely be reporting lots of names daily and so will those who have already learned their lesson. Thank you Nostalrius staff for being so so so active in the war against these botters.

This shit right here is dumb. You can report innocent players who could be possibly transferring actual items or gold and get them banned. I'm not surprised that GMS shoot first, ask questions later.

Also, you can create a "sniper" with an addon. It's in the vanilla API, anyone with fingers and a keyboard can figure this shit out. Stop posting about AH snipers. Stop transferring items, and idk, play the game?

He never said GMs would auto-ban everyone just because they get reported, stop making false conclusions.

if you have read my whole post i mentioned how the GM spared those who were seemingly trying to snipe manually... the ones who got banned were the only ones who seem to be afk and were still able to snipe things on AH. This "I was merely using an addon" excuse is waaay too overused. Your character does things without you watching it, you get banned for it... simple as that.

FFS. Go read the API. Button pressing was a thing in 1.12.1's API. You can make a bot with an addon. Period.

MANY 1.12.1 addons use button pressing, like lazypig, mail addons, and even acutioneer itself uses a 'get scanbutton() press' function. Only total dipshits who refuse to google know nothing of how it actually works. The chances of an actual bot is next to zero.

sorry, but i kind of miss the point in your argument and as to why they shouldn't be banned for insta-buying stuff from AH without them watching their screen.

Transferring items between factions is generally flawed RP wise and shouldn't be allowed.
I am reffering to transferring, i.e. not selling them.

Note that you said that the GM said that he would ban them if they were botting.

That is obvious. But you don't have to be botting to buyout stuff from the AH faster than a human could. You just need to have a page where the auction is listed open and have an addon set to buy said item.

I'd need screenshots, or forum statements specifically stating it before I'd belive that he'd ban players who are running addons but still control their charachters manually to stay online, move etc. Without outside automation and no multiboxing.

Such a flawed argument. Just because you can do certain things with the API, doesn't mean it's allowed. Prime example is: Blizzard has throughout the years shut down many addons that they thought were not acceptable.

They have removed API functions at times yes. They have never banned anyone for using addons that are doing stuff that would be ok if you did it without addons. So, yeah, if you can do something with the API, that does mean it is allowed unless what you are doing is itself not allowed. (Spamming, scamming, exploiting bugs, posting non-english in public channels etc.)

Buying stuff on the AH is allowed without addons and thus doing it with addons is also fine.

I'd have a lot more sympathy for a request to allow crossfaction mailing than for trying to get players banned for running addons praying on players trying to use a public auction house as their private mailing medium. That the API functions are fine to use is a core wow principle much more important than the principle that you cannot mail the other faction.

Personally I think if u put something in the neutral ah and someone else legitimately buys it it's ur own fault get over it and move on worked like that in vanilla should work like that too and trying to get some ppl banned for it because ur upset is a little silly yeah I'm sure some are bots while alot are just fortunate enough to benefit from ur mistake
