Oh how I fondly remember those AFK in the sky kills with my shadow priest. Fly above them dismount, levitate and DOT them as you float past, priceless.

VeloxBanks wrote:So with all this talk of TBC coming to Nost in the future aswell as talk about how flying mounts ruined PVP back in the day I have to ask just how much it really did affect it. I'm pretty sure that (as with most WoW related things) people overreacted just a little bit. Ofcourse I could be very wrong. I just want to hear your views on the topic since WPVP is a pretty big part of the game for me even though I don't really take part in it (I suck balls at it infact, however I still enjoy just seeing it happen).

They definitely destroyed WPVP. At the start of TBC, we didn't see too much degradation, but as time went on, we had less and less WPVP. At the end of TBC, the only good WPVP I had was on the Sunwell Isle (where flying mounts were disabled) and when I decided to roleplay as a Demon Hunter by using Cursed Vision of Sargeras's "Track Demons" ability, finding Warlock pets, then killing the Warlocks with my Warglaives.

WPVP was so nonexistent after TBC, I couldn't tell the difference between a PVP and a PVE server in Wrath (I played on Illidan until Trial of the Crusader, then I went to a PVE server for ICC).

Flying mounts didn't kill world pvp, BGs did.
Flying mounts were just blizzard kicking world pvps dead carcass.

if you really think flying mounts killed world PvP go watch any of noone's mage pvp videos and you can easily see they all have world PvP

Seriously, if somehow it is proven that the majority wants to play without flying mounts, why should we not give the better to ourselves?

Nostalrius has made changes in the bg queue system after the community has complained.

If not remove flying, at least limit it. Make players able to fly with a timed debuff, so its used when its really needed, and greatly increase the time needed to succesfully mount up.

The world will be much more alive without flying mounts

The issue would be that a good portion of Outlands requires a flying mount to reliably access. You remove flying mounts then Shat is gonna be filled to the brim with portals going to every single area unreachable without a flying mount.
I know you love world pvp Simonich, but I dont think the demand for it is high enough for Nost devs to go so out of their way to remove flying mounts.
Also world pvp areas like Halaa were extremely active for a good portion of retail TBC so you will still have your world pvp.

Heres where the time limit of the mount comes in place, so you have just enough time to reach the spot that is most far, other simple things like cooldown on flying mount and increased mount up cast time can be easily implemented, no?

Sorry man it just seems like an unnecessary amount of work to appease a small audience of dedicated world pvpers.
Im sure plenty of people enjoy the occasional world pvp, but flying mounts are just apart of the infrastructure that is TBC. I mean you and your guild can still attack any town or city in Azeroth without worrying about people flying away.
I would just hate to see Nost spend their time on such a big change for such a little section of the community.

Also fuck the idea of Blades edge and getting to Gruul/Ogri'la without a reliable flying mount.

U guys played TBC? TBC had world pvp alright and we had flying mounts. Actualy if u dont have fly mounts u cant enter some raids and many quests and dailys u realy need fly mount.
What ruins wpvp is when u dont need leave major cities to do your shit, that doesnt hapen with tbc, actualy tbc was better then vanilla in my opinion. The game was perfect in tbc.

Well indeed, personally id love to constantly capture the objectives for my own faction.

Really, just cause im there it will be red on the map and everyone of us gets a buff.

But wait, alliance player with same mindset appears -> endless war, actually sounds good :D

I also do prefer the simplier honor system and ability to tranmog
