I wouldn't be counting on Nostalrius coming back either. You should be looking towards the future, which might be good on Crestfall one day.
Go on the Crestfall forums and read the first paragraph of their FAQ page. Crestf- I mean Shitfall is just as bad as a Blizzard vanilla server. Nostalrius or bust.
You mean this?
Q. First thing's first. Pay to win?
A. No. No purchased levels, skills, gold, or items. We reserve the right to change our minds if it's a matter of keeping the servers online post-launch, but our intention is not to have any pay to win system of any kind. That said, the server will need to generate some money to cover expenses. We'll pay most out of pocket, but player contribution is appreciated. To that end, it is likely that we will have an item shop involving vanity items you cannot get in-game, such as TCG rewards, Blizzcon/Collectors Edition Pets, armorless mount skins (provided you already own the original version) etc. We are also considering (just as ideas) things like Gold Memberships which allow players to skip any login queue and have increased developer access, name changes, PvE<->PvP realm transfers, etc. Nothing that will affect your gameplay experience, but hopefully appealing enough to drum up sufficient financing for the server.
-- I don't see a problem here, and was actually suggesting in the past that Nost do these things for revenue. It's stupid not to. A server's money has to come from somewhere. CF btw also told me they'd do account restores, unlike Nost, who will leave you to rot out of all your hard work on the server if you're sharded out at the mailbox one day. CF already seems to care about its community more than Nost EVER did, but the question of whether they'll be able to follow through on it post launch, has yet to be seen. If too many players flood in, they could have the same situation as Nost, where they simply can't manage so many. But this is something revenue can help with. Where as Nost didn't do shit for its revenue, then tried to rely on nothing but volunteer GMs; a server with a proper revenue could actually hire dedicated staff.
I suggest researching things yourself before insulting them. Nost probably isn't coming back fyi. You think they waited all this time to reopen? They're going to release the source code.
