Actually thousands of players want a fresh start server. A HUGE part of the population wants it. And here you are saying it is a bad idea and that it shouldn't be done and the players that want it shouldn't get it. It sounds to me like all the players that don't want a fresh server are saying something like...what was it... oh yeah "You think you do, but you don't" and even tho a large part of the population want it, Nostalrius shouldn't give it to them. Doesn't that remind you of something?

No. You're only seeing your own side in this as the "right" side.

You want a new server without old accounts to play with. By not making it, this hurts you, and benefits me, since new players will make new accounts on the old server.
I want a single server so as not to split the English-speaking community. By making a new server, this hurts me, and benefits you.

As you can see, your "solution" doesn't work for both sides. Neither does mine. You got yours, so it's only natural to gloat and demonize the other side, but please don't advertise it as a supposed compromise.

I will be playing on the old server tho. And I don't think it will split the community. Nothing bad will happen. There will still be thousands of players on each server. There will be every kind of community on each server. You will start playing on the server you choose and you will be happy. So stop with the doomsaying and all the stupid crap. Nothing bad will happen. Legacy servers already won.

That's a lot of unwarranted optimism that's disprovable by simply looking into the history of not only other private servers, but legitimate MMO servers for various now dead or dying games. Wish I could ignore all that.

And I believe nost is not going to come back with the population that it once had. Too many people have moved on.

Possibly. I have a few level 60s but a lot more people have been made aware of Nostalrius since. So I'd likely be re-rolling on the fresh server with friends instead of playing on the existing realm. Not sure yet though, but I can't imagine I'm the only one who is in this situation.

Thats not true, there are tons of people that arent interested in replaying 1-60 and then farming mc ony bwl and zg for more than year before war effort for aq begins. Since Nost got "some" publicity there will be enough new people to play catch up game on old server even with fresh server starting just because old server offers AQ and naxx sooner.

Oh boy... Elysium forum post that was also posted on reddit regarding implementing nost database etc had over 15k views in 8 hours. If only servers will be able to hold that much people i'd not even dare to worry about population lol. Also same shit ppl said when Nost were about to release pve server... "community will die blablabla". Generally all those mongrel gamer nostradamus had their time, and what? After few months PvP server only grew by like 3-4k pop and pve server had like 5k pop at peak.

You all ppl gotta understand that the more options they will give us the more people will cater to those options... like if we had only 1 old pvp server u'd miss all those "shitheads" that qq about fresh start, equal rights and all that jew whinery in general so they would not play at all right? If you released only fresh server u'd have a lot old ppl that wouldn't return due to the fact they burned out or just plainly dont want to replay mc+bwl forever again. So both borderline solutions loose ppl in one way or another.

On the other hand if you give servers to feed all people. Imagine a scenario, both fresh and old server release. And after a while people from fresh server are like "shiiiit im already mc bis and its still like 3 months before bwl release... and then another 5 months till zg release, fuck it ima roll on old server, make some friends and get boosted a bit to get more raiding time". And same goes to old server population "damn I got r14 and we're farming aq40 already but its still some time before naxx, ima roll alt on fresh server and aid some random guild progression in mc or bwl just for funzies".

Long story short... more servers under same banner = more options = more people in general = more options = bigger community.

Thread views is not a representation of future server population. Just like Trump's HUGE rallies are not going to be a representation of his voter turnout today during the US elections.

I am a skeptic, therefore I am not going to sit here and pretend everything is going to be hunky-dory when there is a good chance that the server I want to play on will be dead on arrival (for my timezone, EU guys don't have to worry). The polls indicate this with less than 20% of people wishing to return to the old server. No chance in hell I'm going to level up again and farm dungeons and gear for naught. If the server is dead I just won't play, and believe me I want to play lol. So I'm going to post here trying to convince people to play on the old realm until we see the actual numbers because I want to come back to a 5000 to 8000 population and not a 2000 to 3000 one.

Where does it say that they are opening both a fresh PvP realm and a PvP realm continuing from where nost left off?

Alas, you're not the only one.

My friends and I (who have at least each a lvl 60) think on the long term.

After being initially excited to play our old characters, we believe that the PvP Nostserver is sentenced to death by the opening of the new PvP one.
Because a new player has no interest in creating a character on the old server.
Thus, the influx of new players will be completly picked up by the new PvP server.
Then, the Nost PvP will die with exactly the same symptoms as K1 atm.

Therefore, with great regret and bitterness, my friends and I decided to start over the fresh server.

And finally, we find a shame that it is the players who contributed to the success of Nostalrius who suffer from this decision. It floats in the air a perfume of abandonment.

Mais la vie continue...

"fresh server is a bad idea, nobody want fresh server"

Are you sure guys? http://www.strawpoll.me/11589399/r

i doubt old PVP server die like kronos but im pretty sure new fresh start server will have the highest population, you will pray for people go to the fresh server and PVE server when you have to wait queues, disconnects and lags, they said they gonna cap the player limit to avoid the lag, so yes we cant fit all in one server
