From your own quoted article:
endgadget wrote:It's no secret that world PvP has had a rough journey throughout WoW's history. Blizzard did all it could to discourage the wild Southshore vs. Tarren Mill clashes that made Hillsbrad Foothills a laggy, unplayable mess, often crashing the Eastern Kingdoms servers entirely.

The whole thing is one person's anecdote about one time that the crossroads got raided. You can argue with me all you want. I played vanilla day one through to tbc and your internet search to prove you are correct doesn't trump our real personal knowledge. Hillsbrad was always the zone for world pvp if you wanted it.

Hillsbrad was definitely the place to go for world PvP in vanilla. Those Southshore vs. Tarren Mill battles used to be epic, regardless of what server you were on! You would have literal raids fighting against each other.

I strongly disagree with your "world pvp zone" being Crossroads. I even played on Illidan (US) which was well known for its wealth of pvp and skilled pvpers (Otherguy (Sorrow Hill Series), Spinister (Natural Nemesis Series) etc) and Crossroads was hardly ever attacked. When it was, it was typically one level 60ish player or maybe five. Usually world pvp took place in Hillsbrad then once BGs came out it died almost instantly past the level 20 turf wars and the occasional "Gank me I get my main" person.

After 1.5 a lot of world pvp shifted to the later zones primarily Burning Steppes and Searing Gorge. Then in Silithus during the War Effort and AQ craze and EPL during Naxxramas. Though throughout this time guilds were still in MC and BWL (The way WoW should be, none of this "No Guild Left Behind" bullshit of modern WoW) so Searing Gorge and Burning Steppes were always big. Hell, if you watch any older pvp video a majority of their clips are going to be in Burning Steppes/Searing Gorge/BRM. Then a few in Silithus or Plaguelands.

Though if I had to pick an iconic world pvp zone, it's either Hillsbrad or Burning Steppes. Crossroads would be below Ashenvale on my list and that's nowhere near my top 10.

So it's you and one Scott Andrews now. Well done for finding someone who agrees with you.

I remember leveling at xroads and a lot of allys used to come and raid the hub. It was a fun "challenge" at the time to kill the lvl 60 elite questgiver with a 10-man raid without wiping 5x.

Watching how literally nothing can penetrate this guys thick skull is kinda trippy, he even takes evidence that goes against him (the article that clearly states hillsbrad was almost unplayable due to pvp) and uses it as an argument for his vanilla 'knowledge crusade'.

Cite from the website :

If any single zone deserved to get repeatedly pounded by enemy forces, it was certainly The Barrens.

The notorious nature of Barrens chat began very early in WoW's history.

Thus, not long after launch, The Barrens became the most populous zone in the entire game. That vast, noob-saturated expanse made one juicy target for Alliance aggression. Much like those mysterious Europeans, the Alliance arrived in force, and not all of them were friendly.

The Crossroads bleeds

Back then, were you aware just how strategically significant the Crossroads was to the Horde, or was it just an easy target? By slaughtering the quest givers there, the Alliance could stop three-quarters of the Horde's newbies from leveling effectively as long as they could hold the town. With no PvP system in place then, there was no other reason to do it except for the sheer thrill.

OP just keeps spamming the link to the same article about one guy's experience during a crossroads raid while the article even mentions "Southshore vs. Tarren Mill clashes that made Hillsbrad Foothills a laggy, unplayable mess". I sure wonder where the most PvP took place.
