I read contradictory posts from gms on the matter.. Is it possible or not to have two characters logged on at the same time if not actively playing both?
From the ToU
https://en.nostalrius.org/terms-of-use There are a few specific situations where you may have two characters in-game simultaneously:
Transferring items between accounts;
Using professions, as long as no farming or material gathering is involved;
Crafting, enchanting, banking and/or for trading purposes that does not include the Auction House.
From Tyrael here
https://forum.nostalrius.org/viewtopic. ... 65#p197262Greetings PowerRanger,
You cannot be logged into both at the same time as it would be a violation of our Multiboxing rules.
Regards,
GM Team.
Seeing how trigger happy the GM have been with the perm bans in the past, I'd really like to have a definite answer..

Greetings iii,
If it's not listed as an allowed exception for Multiboxing in the Terms of Use then it's not an allowed form of Multiboxing. AFKing is not listed as such, it's not an allowed form of Multiboxing.

Trading food is fine, but I'm pretty certain that portals are not allowed.

As mentioned in the Terms of Use, transferring items between accounts which includes mage food is an allowed form of Multiboxing. This should be done in a major city.
We also just updated the Terms of Use to include portalling a second account to and from major cities and playing simultaneously on both PvP and PvE realms as allowed forms of Multiboxing.

Tyrael,
As a Warlock I have often wondered if it were OK for me to purchase mage water/food from a mage in Ironforge and summon my level 5 bank character to the entrance of say, UBRS, before my group begins an instance with no consumables. I thought this would fall under the transferring items category but it's unclear. It seems mages are allowed to dualbox to port to AND from cities, so I figured this would be OK. If it helps, I always tip the mages for their water so this activity is actually net positive for the economy.

metagame - We've made another update to the Multiboxing rules in the Terms of Use to continue to help clarify it. Let me know if you still require further clarification.
