Nostalrius Begins - Quality wow vanilla realm (1.12)

Like the thread title says, I'm stuck at 229 Mining. Since "dinging" 229 I have mined 14 times on different green nodes (ooze covered mithril node) but haven't been able to reach 230 yet.
I have relogged twice during the process then relogged again and mined two more nodes for 4-6 times of mithril nodes in Blasted Lands. Still no skillup.

Is this normal or has it been encountered by anyone leveling mining?

Yes it's normal! Vanilla life!

Regarding WotLK, though, I was the guy who proclaimed "The Lich King is Finnished" after Paragon got world first 25H.

Enchant gloves.

The first thing you should always do when you're a miner is go buy a pair of level 1 cloth gloves (that don't bind on equip so they're tradeable) and get them enchanted with +5 mining. It really sucks coming up to a node, being a couple levels short and not being able to mine it.

Truesilver nodes (230) are EVERYWHERE in 40+ zones. They are ridiculously broken, tons everywhere. It's supposed to be a rare spawn on mithril nodes but something's broken. I end up smelting and vendoring them (2.5g a stack!).

Not sure what level you are but if you get the alliance flight path in Felwood, there's always 2-4 truesilver/small thorium nodes up in that area with no mobs in aggro range. Even if you're horde, you can hang out there, just be wary of incoming pvpers. That'll get you over the hump.

in that case you better care that you not mine too much of them
and rather destroy instead of vendor it

There's nothing bannable. They're not instaspawn or never ending mines, there's just a lot of them. What is broken is they should be rare (like 5 or 10% chance of spawning in a mithril node spot) and they seem to spawn 100%.
