How i got screwed over by my guild (rant, tips for newbies)

Some info before hand, lv60 Human Warlock, started playing early August, also leveling a warrior.

Around two months ago i applied for membership in the guild Reciprocity, and was accepted as trial. I got a place in the raiding team right away as they were short on locks at that time. After 3-4 weeks on trial i got promoted to raider. There was never much chat in gchat in general, most people kept to themselves, but they seemed like a decent bunch, chatted with some regularly.

This Sunday we grouped for a scheduled MC run, i had a bit to drink before and was in a good mood. I owed one of the officers 5g for the pattern i sold which we found earlier, and jokingly while trading instead of 5g i typed in 1500g in the trade box and for reasons i can't remember now, since i never give gold to anyone, but like i said i had a bit to drink, i pressed yes. One minute after i requested the gold back, but the officer surprisingly refused to answer me both in whisper and gchat. During the next 24h i repeatedly asked for the gold back and was still ignored. At that time i decided to consult the other officers, and the guild master himself, all of which told me it was my fault and basically i can go f*** myself, while the officer who took the gold came up with some bs story how i game him gold and said absolutely nothing, so he was free to spend it at will. At that moment i got kinda pissed, left the guild, but still asking for my money back. Since then, most of them put me on ignore, and the ones that didn't repeated the "go f*** yourself" story. The officer who ran with the gold is still a member of the guild.

To cut the story short, trust no one, Nostalrius is an awesome thing, especially for people like me who wanted to play vanilla back in 2004/05 but never got the chance, but the community is really a bitch, i got screwed over big time, after logging in for 4 hours each day all my work was for nothing, will most likely quit soon. Never share your gold or items with anyone, not even for the giggles, no matter how trustworthy they seem, it is the only guarantee to have a pleasurable playing experience. I for one had no experience in mmos, and had to learn the hard way.

Rant over, good luck!

This is old news, you can never trust anyone online. Especially in games like this, when farming gold and everything takes time. People would rather have it easy and they are hidden behind their characters. But sucks to hear that happened, some people are just asshats. This shouldn't stop you from playing this great game though, you'll find people like this everywhere in life.

What a trash guild. Sadly, it's what most guilds would try to do. As an undergeared scrub, you're easier to replace than that gold is. I'm sorry to say it, but you need to be more careful trading in the future. You won't ever get that gold back.

1. He's not an officer and he has never at any point been one.
2. He says you didn't request the gold back from him until the day after, and considering your recent behavior, I'm inclined to believe him over you.

He was told to give it back within a couple of days by the GM (as apparently some of it was already spent by that point), and you responded to that by leaving the guild immediately. Considering you tried getting him banned by lying to the GMs that he paid you for that gold, it's entirely understandable that the member in question no longer wants to return any gold at all.

So you jokingly gave someone 1500g and then you're suprised he won't give it back?
It's your own fault. At least you've learned a lesson now. A 1500g lesson.

Name of the guy who kept your gold please. Also noted the guild name to never get anywhere close to them.

Reiterating what pylo said.

You know very well that the person in question is not, and has never been an officer in the guild. The money has in no way, at any time had anything to do with the guild or its leadership.

You also said that the officers told you to go fuck yourself. This is not true either; the GM himself said you'd get your gold back in a few days (since not all was available), and I also asked that person to give it back.

You say he ignored you. He says he asked if you wanted it back and you then ignored him. Word against word.

That you're angry that you lost your gold from a stupid drunken mistake on your part is understandable. That you would then not only leave the guild after being told you'd get the gold back, but also:

Call EVERYONE in the guild scumbags and douchebags
Threaten to lie to the Game Masters about the gold being sold for some kind of revenge ban
Go on the fourm to actually lie about the situation to make an entire guild look bad and yourself a prosecuted martyr
...that is pathetic.

This is an issue between you and one other player. When you cried to the officers, we offered a solution, but you wanted none of it; instead, you tried to make it out to be a guild issue.

Now after partaking in this slice of easily avoidable and useless drama, let me add to the tips for newbies your title hints at:

Don't trade away all your money, real world or not, although this comes natural for most people.
People will lie for gain, such as to make a situation look favourable to them; don't just take everything at face value and jump on the outrage bandwagon.

This is not a guild issue, it's between you and the trader
