Reasonable solutions to overpopulation lag

Instead of complaining about chinese, germans, russians, martians, we should post reasonable solutions. A lot of Nostalrius is about community, segregating and being discriminatory towards certain races shouldn't really be acceptable. Honestly, I don't have many solutions to this problem that are rational, which is why I'm making the thread to see if anyone has good ideas that maybe the Nost. staff can implement. If there is one thing that most players can agree on here, is that the input lag during peak times of 10k+ on server is starting to create periods of time where the game is actually unplayable.

Don't really have a lot of solutions here, but one could be to kick AFKers after a short period of time? maybe like 15 minutes have them disconnect? that way the realm would be populated with active players.there's probably about 1500 out of the peak that are AFK, if not more.

Everything short of creating a new server is a half-measure that will not accomplish anything in the long run. Creation of a new server for Chinese players is actually the best idea because it will solve two problems at once: it will segregate the non-English speaking China community from the English-speaking majority, and it will also reduce the main server population by a very substantial amount, making it a much better experience for eveeryone.

+1 for Chinese server

Even though it's probably not very realistic IMO :(

also wouldn't mind 5k-6k online cap for PvP server

But would you mind waiting in a 4000 person queue 15 minutes before raid time?

Queue should be introduced after the server population is reduced, if ever. Setting the queue threshold below the current peak population will not work out well. On ED it was a fucking disaster.

:D

For the record a new China server is not a solution because there's nobody to pay for it.

Non-techie question:

What would a server like that cost to run (just aprox)?

stop saying china server, it should just be an asian region server. russia, china, japan, korea, india, they should all be funneled over to there own server, not because of language, because honestly who cares, but because they all play the same times AND it would give us two large bases for servers.

We need new hardware, or a new dedicated server. This can only be done with money, so we should start a donation or online fundraiser and show the nost devs we can raise a shit ton of money so that we can play this great server with no lag. I see that as the only option.

copyright laws are mostly ignored until crowdfunding starts to happen. this is usually because the companies don't openly disclose the entire accounting, but that's the reality of IP law. you want nostal shut down, then opening crowdfunded donations is the way to do that.
