What is the reasoning behind this?

It was also not allowed on retail - probably for same reason.

Colored text was often used for GM impersonation, so yeah, pretty reasonable to ban it.

It's cool that they just prevent coloured text messages from being sent now. Before you'd have to report the dickweeds who did it and have to wait on GMs to warn/ban their asses.

there are alot of annoying things in chat that aren't bannable... besides, isn't that kind of subjective

what kind of reasoning is that? blizzard probably had some reason to ban it and i'm guessing nostalrius has a reason also; and i'm interested in what that reason is. banning something solely for it being banned on retail makes no sense.

no, it's not. why not just ban gm inpersonation and that's it. kitchen knifes can kill people but they aren't illegal for it. furthermore, gm's have a blizzard logo next to their names and most people know that. there are also loading screen tips and such stuff that tell you that gm's won't ask for your info. anyone stupid enough to fall for a scam just because of a different text color (which turns out to be an item link when u click on it) can't possibly hope to blame gm's for poor management on this, don't you agree?

in all seriousness, not one post on this thread held any intellectual legitimacy to it. i asked a fairly simple question. if you can't answer it, go shitpost somewhere else. your arguments are biased and judgemental even though nobody forced you to click on my original post. anyone with functional cognitive functions would by now realise that my question was meant for those that know the answer. you can go and be obvious somewhere else.
