RDP Connection name

Hypothetically speaking (because I would never do this of course), can anyone tell me what my RDP connection to the Nostalrius server would look like to an employer? Is there any way to "rename" or mask that?

It would probably be either the name of the login server that is set in the realmlist file, which looks like it is login.nostalrius.org, or the IP of that DNS entry.

Are you going to RDP into your home desktop and then launch WoW and play it like that?

I don't understand what you mean by "RDP connection to nostalrius server"; do you mean if they look closely enough, will they see your IP traffic and therein see the Nostalrius IP address? Yes. Will your RDP session name change based on what you access over that session? No. That's not how RDP works.

You use a Windows service to RDP over a tunnel which is always going to be represented by the target IP. The RDP session itself will pass all traffic over this tunnel - if they wanted to find out what you had been doing, it would be pretty easy by accessing logs which record data; deeper logs would show all connections within that RDP session being accessed, which would lead them to nostalrius etc; but honestly, they can silently view your RDP session and just watch you..but will your RDP session change in any way or give you away suddenly just if you open Nostalrius? No.

Really the only way they could see would be if they looked at your IP traffic, or if they just opened your RDP session and viewed that.

I'm pretty sure he just means his connection to Nostalrius and identifies any connection as RDP. But yeah, he could be using RDP to an outside connection, and using that system to launch WoW.

Do you by chance ever get the numbers on how many times your software lead to a termination? I think that it would be interesting to know how many people try go do things like this.

Unfortunately no. Considering our software is at some very large corporations, with tens/hundreds of thousands of installs per site, I know the number could be pretty high.

However, my last job I worked in point of sale support for a very small company (6 or 7 people total). Our customers loved to call and tell us about how they just fired some waitress or bartender for stealing because of our reporting or camera integration.

Ya, this is more accurate for sure. That's not really my area, but I assumed it was happening at some level.
