Looking to help out the server!

Hello!

My name is Xynni, and I am a currently-leveling Warlock through the nostalgic worlds of a prior Azeroth. In comparison to every other Vanilla private server, I have yet to see a server to offer as much as Nostalrius does, while keeping a healthy and friendly community, with no P2W aspects found in most servers. As an old-school fan of WoW in its' glory days, I would like to preserve the community, and server so that we, and many anew can experience what World of Warcraft truly is, and how it's meant to be played. There aren't too many reasons towards why someone would want to donate to Nostalrius. There are no perks, no benefits. People will easily brush this option aside, and continue to enjoy the server. And even people such as me who love the server may not have the funds available to donate. So I assume that money is not a 'rapid' flowing income towards their servers. My goal is be a middle man for Nostalrius, followed by my fellow guild members; in growing a community via my guild, where I/we advertise Nostalrius through my daily stream on Twitch. Establish the base of an audience towards Vanilla World of Warcraft is not an easy task due to how outdated of a game it is. And with mainstream tournaments and video game releases that grasp the majority through the lures of graphics and simplicity, 3rd party hosting companies are left to rely on the small, but dedicated group of veterans and aspiring WoW players to maintain their servers.

If you would like to participate in a FREE way of supporting Nostalrius along with my guild members, whisper me on the PvP Realm @ Xynni. I plan to stream via Twitch, and hold raffles, and gambling events within the guild to promote reasons for wanting to be a part of this adventure. I also plan to donate monthly to Nostalrius, as well as a couple of other friends.

I hope this post brings attention to the rarely-discussed topic on why we should donate a little bit of money to Nostalrius for providing us with a stable server to reminisce, and play our favorite childhood memories.

Server with 12k ppl population does not need any more popularity, and if that is your way to get some donations its just so low. Present a decent gameplay and entertainment and ppl will donate if they enjoy your stream.

They stated many times that they do not accept donations , alot of players already wanted to open a community donation fund but this will lead to the closure of the server. Just saying ;)

I understand what you mean, I apologize for the inconvenience. My intentions aren't for self benefits, but to bring attention to an honorable cause.

I would've donate already but if we all do it and make it so obvious we risk to expose our server that its getting money for another developer's game which can lead to suing the Staff. I am a supporter of Nostalrius streamers and even donate to them, but last time Payo got popularity and Twitch ban his account for that. Better try to keep 20-50 viewers so they won't ban you. Once you are banned from Twitch its pretty much over.

I think they open a donation fund but it was month ago and for a while.

The cost of this hardware cannot be handled by our team alone, therefore a donation system will be available for a limited time (and limited cost) here. This donation will not be mandatory, nor give any reward: No hall of fame, no items in-game, it will only help us support the upkeep cost. A status of the donation will be available on the website.

Adwena, they do accept donations, they just don't adertise it all the time. Go to the link above and go to the paypal link, its still working and I've used it to donate. Weird seeing people say no dont donate, when we clearly have a lag problem that can be fixed with a new server, aka donations. There is no risk of Blizzard shutting us down because of an influx of donations. Nostalrius is probably the biggest if not the second biggest pserver out there, blizzard already knows about it. They can't do anything however, since the server is in France AND they refuse to earn money off of this. There are many servers, one as big if not bigger than Nost that have a shop, and the staff gets a profit from it. If anything, those would of gotten shut down IF blizzard could do anything about it.

Also, I would say try and not advertise and bring in as many people as you can, our server is already overpopulated, more people would make the lag worse. If we got enough people to donate maybe we will finally get another server.

Also, payo only got a 24 hr ban. If you get banned its not "over" immediately. There are other websites to stream, and twitch allows you to stream again.

TLDR: dont let these guys scare you, if you want to donate go donate.

Thank you for the clarification! I guess I should've mentioned what the donations should be going towards, i.e new servers. I would rather pay monthly for reliving a warm memory, then paying for retail (I use gold so I have what I would be spending on game time, that I could be donating to the server) So, I wanted to make light of the subject, without stirring up what may seem like an attempt at self-glorification for my stream.
