The casual gaming weekend-only crowd destroyed Retail. Now they're gathering in armies on Nostalrius Begins to ninja every quest mob and quest drop I need for 48 straight hours every weekend. If this were 2006 and people still formed groups to complete quests it wouldn't be so bad, but gaming is highly individualistic now and co-operation and community don't really exist in gaming today, so it just takes like three hours to get enough mobs and drops to complete a quest when you're playing on weekends. <sad>

People join groups to complete quests frequently here.

I think it depends on what time zone you are in, "weekend players" are no different than logging in at a different time and being surprised EU is awake already.

No one groups because the XP is reduced by more than the time you'd save. A lot of leveling guides recommend killing everything a long the way from point a to point b, so it's perfectly understandable most people want the xp from the grind.

You can go back to retail farming in dungeon finder if you don't like it

So are you just sitting back and watching them kill all the mobs while complaining that you don't get any? If they're able to get stuff done, you should he able to also.

I'm grouping only for killing elites, because when you kill things in group, you get way less XP.

See? Thats a wrong logic. There are more than enough quests in the world , and if you group up for the most of them you will still be able to get to 60.

And on top of this you finish quests so much quicker when grouped that it is easily worth it.

If this is your idea of efficiency, you are way off target. Example:

4 people are doing a quest that requires them to kill 10 of a mob. None of them are grouped together and only 5 of the mobs are at the spawn point. 40 mobs required, 8 full mob spawns required, about 30-40 minutes if the kills are distributed fairly evenly (and other variables--didn't get ganked, no new people show up, no one is just grinding the area for a drop and don't care about the quest, etc). Full experience on all 10 mobs.

4 people are doing a quest that requires them to kill 10 of a mob. They are all grouped together and only 5 of the mobs are at the spawn point. 10 mobs required, 2 full mob spawns required, about 5-10 minutes for all involved. Shared experience, group disbands as the quest is completed.

You can make up the lost experience from grouping in just a couple of kills. A lot of people don't do drop quests in group because it doesn't speed it up, and they are wrong. If you can get 2-3 people in a group, you can work together to keep all the spawns in an area locked down. You more than increase the number of mobs you can kill per player with CC, healing, and aoe.
