I can't get images to work in my signature (keep getting a bad gateway error from the web host when I try to preview or submit) so if anyone knows why please tell me!

Good luck. Everyone streaming Nost on Twitch with more than a few viewers has been temporarily banned + threatened with a permanent ban if they ever stream it again.

Not true, there are regular streamers who get more than 100 viewers who have been doing so for months.

Like Payo and Monkeynews, who were both banned recently?

I would avoid streaming on Twitch when playing on Nostalrius. It doesn't seem worth it since if you manage to get a following after awhile it will all be swept away if they ban you from twitch.

Go stream on Hitbox instead, they don't touch streamers even if they play on Nostalrius.

Thought i'd give my input since I've seen a lot of misinformation about this subject. I stream Nost daily, sometimes I am lucky to get over 100 viewers, and even at times over 150. Here is what I have learned.

-Nostalrius doesn't mind people who stream. They even have a section on the site here for people to put up their streams. I believe they enjoy we stream because it gives more publicity for the server/their work.

-While twitch may frown upon streamining Nostalrius and wow private servers, they are not the ones who go out handing out bans. Blizzard will randomly send cease and desist letters to twitch (who they share an agreement with) and twitch is forced to take action.

-It doesn't matter if you're partnered (wouldn't happen anyway, just an example), get donations, whatever. If you stream Nostalrius, you are eventually going to get taken down.

-You will not get pemanently banned from twitch for streaming Nostalrius (at first). You also not lose your followers, viewers, etc. You will get a 24 hour suspension. I highly advise after this suspension you do not continue streaming, as it will lead most likely to a permanent ban. However, you might just get another 24 hr ban and then eventually a final warning. I would not risk it though.

-Hitbox is a good option and you won't get banned there, but let's face it, it's like comparing McDonalds and Burger King. McDonalds holds a huge market share and just has higher popularity, regardless of quality. Twitch will always be the better option because that's where the people go.

I hope this answers anyone's quesitons about streaming Nost.

Do you think you might be able to fly under the radar longer (or maybe entirely) if you never mention the name of any private server and simply say "Vanilla WoW" instead?

Might give you a certain amount of plausible deniability...

That I'm not sure :/ I feel like you would have to make sure it's not under playing "World of warcraft". Let's say you select WoW as the game, and put the title as "asdsffafdfsafdf" and get 100 viewers, it's still going to show up in the wow list. I feel like in order to go under the radar truly, you'd have to not even list your stream under WoW at all, and I feel like it would definitely impact the amount of people coming into your channel.

True, but like you said you'd also have no viewers so there'd be no point in streaming.

I have a feeling Blizz doesn't care about people streaming private servers, but they DO care about people advertising them and potentially stealing their customers. So if you never mention the name and ban it from your chat, they may leave you alone.
