Ninja loot question

by mdunca95 » Tue Jan 19, 2016 10:57 pm

What's up guys, for anyone who has played World of Warcraft for any real amount of time you understand that ninja looting is a serious and very real scenario that happens quite often. I reviewed the ToS of Nostalrius and it seemed to be extremely vague regarding "item scamming" (which is essential what ninja looting is).

I opened a ticket to see if I could get a direct response from an admin but for whatever reason my ticket was closed and no one could be bothered to answer my question regarding theft of items.

So here's my question for you guys, hopefully someone will know! Does Nostalrius follow the same Blizzard rules on ninja looting. For example, Blizzard states that the Raid leader must post in /raid or /p chat and give VERY clear and specific loot rules or else the ninja is not held accountable.

For example, say the raid leader changes it to master looter last second and takes everything, but according to Blizzard, as long as he didn't post loot rules he could not be held accountable for his actions because he didn't lie to people.

Another example being the phrase "MS>OS", we've all seen it guys. According to Blizzard, not even this holds up in a screen shot claiming someone was ninjad. The Ninja could easily say that the phrase "MS>OS" simply translates to "My spec> Other's spec". That actually holds up in Blizzards eyes.

So my question is, what is Nostalrius' exact definition of ninja looting.
BTW, i have no intentions of ninja looting from anyone, but when it inevitably happens to me, I want to make sure I understand what's going on.

Ninja Looting is between players. There are quite a number of players here think that if you don't communicate with your group that certain 'default rules' apply, rules like MS > OS. But in (virtual) reality there are no rules when you don't make any. So without explicitly stating the looting rules, there can be no ninja looting.

Even after a Ninja Looting GMs won't do anthing. Unless the Ninja Looting was done through the abuse of bugs, using hacks or otherwise exploiting the game, and even then the person in question will get banned for using said methods and not for the Ninja Looting itself.

Ninja looting is not the same as item scamming. Item scamming is, for example, selling 20 Dark Iron Ore for 50 gold but actually CoDing the buyer 20 worthless Indrium Ore. This way the buyer pays a relative large amount for a relative cheap item and is thereby scammed from his gold.

In all honesty the only real way to ninja loot is if raid leader or party leader puts loot on master and takes it for himself .. a person just pressing need on everything isn't ninja looting it's just him being a dick cause you can also need and have en equally fair chance to win said item.. also this was doable in vanilla and should not be bannable in nost either had happen a few times in retail and blizzard specifically said the player technically did nothing wrong and it was actually raids fault because they chose them as a leader .. they pretty much said same with bank ninjas since guild masters gave them rank allowing it it wasn't their issue unless player filed that his account was hacked.. sadly ninja looters and assholes are just apart of wow as Is lvl 60s who camp lvl 20s

The basic rule is that they do not get involved.

This means that your everyday "ninjas" get away with it except for the fact that their reputation takes a hit and they are stuck on a server with no transfers or name changes.

If someone perpetrated a more elaborate scheme, say for example a GDKP run where they kept all the gold, it would likely fall under the Nostalrius "scamming nets you a permanent ban" rule. In that case the player and anyone the staff deems was clearly in on it would be banned but nothing would be redistributed.

Awesome info man, much appreciated for the reply, mate! I remember GDKP's in wrath haha, great times!

I just wish they had a more clear definition in their ToS. I would rather get this info directly from them or an admin honestly, oh well though. Thanks again!
