Nostalrius Begins - Quality wow vanilla realm (1.12)

I recently started a warrior on the PvE server and upon reaching level 5 I went to get mining and blacksmithing for professions. I then proceeded to level while watching for nodes. By level 8 I had found one mode in Elwyn Forest that I could mine and 4 near Jasperlode mine that vanish as soon as I start to get close. On the off chance that there is someone specifically going for the nodes, I decided to go to IF and try in that area. I went around Kharanos and started a dedicated search. I took back paths and front and managed to find 2 nodes that were mineable and another 2 that showed on minimap as being there but they didn't exist (bright yellow dots so not the dull yellow underground ones).

So basically I am wondering if I have that bad of luck (as I only ran into 1 other miner in that time) or if the nodes are not really there anymore. I only played 3 weeks of vanilla when it was current but I seem to remember there being more nodes around.

More than likely they've already been mined... Mine nodes aren't raised on pve server since there's around retail like number of players there.. but yes mining works fine on pve server I'm currently around 170 on one of my chars

That is a bug that never seems to get any attention. I'm on the pvp server and it happens there too.

Elwynn forest is seriously bugged for copper nodes. There used to be plenty in retail but I've gone around with a level 60 on mount just to map them and the only nodes in the whole zone were the disappearing ones.

It's not just Elwynn forest either. There are some nodes near the cave to the pirates in Tanaris. There's a node in the tunnel that disappears when you get close. There was one just outside (on the Gadgetzan side) that was doing the same thing except I was able once to tap it from max distance.

There's a lot of under ground or nodes inside trees, underground, high on sides of mountains, etc. Some you can get to but it takes some ingenuity, others are impossible. There's plenty of copper in Westfall and Lakeshire.
