Either faction, its preference, they are like 50/50 on the server too, so pick one.

Between Mage and Warlock, warlock is probably better for straight PvP combat as you have more abilities that make it hard for your opponent to fight you, plus a pet. Mages tend to die quickly, the old "glass cannon" situation.

Alliance

Pros: Paladins, instant queues, Paladins, also Paladins. I also hear Paladins are pretty good.

Cons: Chinese AFK in every BG

Horde

Pros: Better racials, Shaman

Cons: 20 minute queues, have to fight Paladins, also don't have Paladins

Horde for the racials, and probably frost mage. Either way it doesn't really matter.

qft.
But I'd like to add that active racials beat passive (#rng) racials any time of the day hence the alliance racials are severly underrated.
(Stoneform, Escape Artist, Shadowmeld, Perception can all be of great use and weigh up with WoTF)

That being said the impact of a well played paladin outweighs that of any mediocre-good (!!!elemental!!!) shaman. It requires severe coordination to add value to a well played elemental shaman if you put them up against paladins.(--> positioning&timing of the whole team -- A well played paladin has a huge impact without requiring his team to shine.)

As to what you should play, pick what you like both classes have their unique playstyle while playing them on alliance&horde are vastly different again.
(Some will tell you that an alliance lock has less impact than a horde lock because of WotF, but that's biased bullshit of people that put too much value in that racial. You rarely use fear anyway, waste of gcd on a well played/geared lock. - except for some 1vs1)

Totally agreed. Maybe I'm missing something, but I don't really see why people are always saying WotF is like a game breaking racial, or that everybody plays UD's because of WotF (tho I do realize DrearyYew said 'horde' has better racials, not just UD). Especially considering UD's were popular when nobody knew nothing about racials.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but if you roll a rogue, aren't your biggest problems bleeds (can't vanish), stuns (can't trinket them) and getting kited and not fears from 2 cloth classes? So wouldn't EA, stoneform and orcs RNG stun resist be better? And I find perception to be great as well.

Same with warriors. Never really played one, but I'd rather take EA than WofT.

As a warlock, i'd rather play an orc or even human or gnome.

As a priest..well I'd play UD, but not because of WotF but DP. But at least stoneform gets rid of one set of poisons..which granted isn't that amazing.

And shadowmeld is just overall great, especially on a pvp server.

But..maybe I'm just missing something.

Alliance gets much shorter queue times. Alliance also has the most defeatist attitude and an endemic afking problem.

Affects all ranks. 2 days ago I was in AB with Field Marshal Meitounao, guarding lumber mill. An orc warrior charges him and starts hacking away. Only 5 seconds later does he bother dismounting. I guess redtube alt tabbing is too good to pass on.

Ally also have more premades so if you're going hardcore, and good at it you can get into one of those.
