Horde vs Alliance Population

As I level my Human Paladin (currently level 43) it seems like there is a considerable amount more Horde than Alliance out and about leveling characters. I've asked a couple times in multiple locations on which faction has more players and most people say that it's more or less the same. From my experience it feels much different. Can somebody link me a live statistic or convince me of what people are saying is true?

It is very common thing - you don't register friendly players while you game because they are not a threat to you, in the same manner/importance as enemy players, who are a threat. Part of human nature.
