I hate being ganked. Hate it. But the feeling of danger it adds to the game is amazing.

Because when you see the faction you're at war with, you want to be able to fight them. thats what is so intriguing about wow, you can have bro time with your own faction all you want in town, then when you're out in the open you're susceptible to the enemy. It's a perfect balance. On a pve server, without that element of surprise and doom glooming over me, it'd feel like a co op game with my friends on the couch.

We're playing an mmo, why wouldn't you want to fight other players in a realistic open world anything goes type of setting? It's the true colors of an mmo.

World PVP and the danger of contested territory is one of the big draws to old school WoW. From Lich King onward, wPVP was such a nonissue, I didn't even notice the difference when I moved from Illidan (one of the biggest NA PVP servers) to a PVE server.
