About flying mounts and WPVP

So with all this talk of TBC coming to Nost in the future aswell as talk about how flying mounts ruined PVP back in the day I have to ask just how much it really did affect it. I'm pretty sure that (as with most WoW related things) people overreacted just a little bit. Ofcourse I could be very wrong. I just want to hear your views on the topic since WPVP is a pretty big part of the game for me even though I don't really take part in it (I suck balls at it infact, however I still enjoy just seeing it happen).

Eh. For me I don't like the flying mounts and they ruined retail WoW for myself. Yeah, they're cool and yes it saves a lot of time traveling from point-to-point but you miss out on the traveling through plains and seeing people along the way. For me that's why I love vanilla, the sense of community, not how hard it is etc. 100% flying mounts suck balls.

It ceased to exist. The only PvP you'd find were low levels waiting to enter an instance or some people farming elementals. Literally everyone else was /afk up in the sky. You went from knowing everyone to knowing nobody.

Correct, flying mounts effectively removed world PvP from the game, its was pretty amusing to us all in TBC when they added more PvP zones while killing world PvP at the same time, needless to say, nobody used or gave a shit about the PvP zones.

The solution is to enable flying mount only when you hit lvl 70. Its also possible to have zones with no flying mount.

I don't like flying at all for the obvious reasons. I'd support removing them or at least add the gimmick they introduced in MoP to shoot down flyers every 15 minutes (or a shorter cooldown).

Yeah, it's nice to be true to how an expansion was rolled out BUT it might be an opportunity to eliminate a MAJOR mistake (which, I think even Blizzard recognized after the fact).

W Pvp died with flying mounts, in outlands. Whoever said it didn't most likely is Bullshiting you to grind glad. REAL world pvp happens everywhere anytime. Flying mounts kills the real battle, it's more just a guy flying down one shotting or opening up on you with his crew in a farm spot. Yes yes, i know there was the whole hellfire towers with there 10v10 shit but common? really. those random encounters die up end game, or it's just overly geared peopel ganking lowbies. Normally it's a mix of lowbie on lowbie but it will purely transfer to. lowbie VS mass geared over and over, also making it easyier to greif. in the end it's what you think Wpvp is.

Pvp, or greifing.

I think this is rather premature.

The only reason I don't like flying is because its unnatural with no real limitations. Its like flying around with IDDQD in counter strike without any physics. WoW doesn't have to be 100% realistic, but logic makes the game feel better. The mount should actually fly, take off, and land, with limits to how far it can go at a time. It shouldn't be like swimming in the air because it completely ruins the feel of a "flying" mount. Otherwise, I had no complains about the affects of that on PVP.
