It is not illegal to play vanilla. It is illegal to host vanilla due to the possibility of confusion consumers, and earning money of somebody else's intellectual property rights without their permission. To make this legal, you need permission. Or the intellectual property rights need to expire faster. There really is no other way and there are currently still powerful vested interests with strong lobbies.

So the only way for a new world is to ignore the old world and build whatever we want, not try to change the old world to build it for us. The old world will not change, not because it does not want to, but because it can not.
