Tears

Straight up can't stop crying.

I know it's Blizzard's right to protect their intellectual property but Nostalrius was doing right by them and protecting the integrity of the game which is why Nostalrius was so successful. Taking down Nostalrius does nothing but alienate a massive community generated from the Blizzard fan base. Blizzard accomplished nothing by doing this - this is just a bitch slap right in the fan's faces. They refuse to give us legacy servers but punish us for trying to appreciate their work. They should be flattered. If they want to go after a server go after the pay to win servers, not us. Nostalrius was unique among private servers and very special. We're logging on to other private servers and being met with hostility. Our community is destroyed and it is not fair. So done with Blizzard....

I will miss playing with you guys! It was a real pleasure! <3

Contact Blizzard in any way possible and speak your mind! If enough people continue to do so who knows what could happen.

I could give a fuck that I was only one binding away from TF, or that my guild after 3 months of work was about to start working on Chromagg and Nef, or that we were pushing our MC clear times to record speeds for ourselves. What sucks is that we can't ride into battle together again. We can move on find another server, many of us want to stick together but it won't ever be the same. I am never going to see familiar players that weren't in our guild just out in the world anymore. I am even sad that I can't be harassed by some of them players I didn't like very much. How pathetic is that? So heartbroken... :(

Tommy is 15, he is new to World of Warcraft and wants to play it. He is about to buy WoD and pre-order Legion but his friend Bobby tells him to come play Nostalrius for free with him and his other friends. Instead of Tommy buying WoD and paying $15 a month, he happily joins Nostalrius and plays WoW for free instead.

You see how damaging this is to Blizzard's future once the private server gets too popular and mainstream. This is also why Blizzard has twitch constantly ban anyone streaming private servers.

Actually the more likely scenario is he plays on Nostalrius and enjoys it so much that he ends up playing Legion as well anyway, and so does his friend, because while they have shitty community relations these days Blizzard are excellent worldcrafters.

That is, at least, until Blizzard drops the axe on Nostalrius, prompting both him and his friend to quit playing retail and also air their grievances to any friends they have, telling them to do the same.

@ Brabus Blizzard could also license the content out OR they could provide legacy servers themselves and charge a subscription fee that I am sure many of us would gladly pay.

Or adopt the Mojang Model for private servers - you use an account associated and controlled with Blizzard's central service to log into a server run and supported by private individuals. Considering Minecraft is now bigger than WoW ever was, I'd say Blizzard is the greater fool for not trying something like it.

I played until January and left for school expecting to return in Summer. I actually felt really saddened by this loss especially considering modern WoW is dying
