Thucydides wrote that men allow their hopes and dreams to fill their minds and disgard entirely their thought in favour of that which is so desirable and pleasent to them.

This was written back in about 430 BC. People don't change.

Bliz have invited Nost to their HQ.

That's great news. It's another step forward. Maybe we're now in the mid-game - and that means all this jumping up and down and dancing in the streets is PREMATURE.

Even if Bliz *are* interested in Vanilla, we now have the most dangerous and worrying part of this journey ahead of us - getting Vanilla done in such a way that the existing Bliz retail WoW team can't *fuck it up*.

It's difficult enough - and one hell of an achievement - to get Bliz to offer this invite. But it's been a *simple problem*, just a very large simple problem. All we had to do was *push*. Now we have to *actually get the right thing done*.

Well even if you don't like it, Vanilla is happening right now. I know some retail fanboys (few left btw) won't agree, but it is what it is.

Blizzard is obligated to do this otherwise is doomed. We say 250k, but there are a lot more ppl who will play vanilla, tbc or WoTLK.

Alas, no.

Bliz are not *obligated*.

It will certainly be stupid, dumb, harmful, etc.

None of this *obligates* - i.e. makes mandatory. Bliz can perfectly well be idiots and not do it.

Moreover, the real risk - not to repeat myself - is that Vanilla does come but with enough current Bliz WoW team involvement that it gets fucked up. That's what really, really worries me.

It's not over. But I do have a lot of faith in Nost, and believe their meeting with Blizz will be fruitful.

That's why Nost will be going to Blizzard HQ, so that won't happen. And yes, they're obligated after what they've done. Nost is too huge, even for Blizzard. You think all this can be ignored by them? You're way too wrong, really.

All this is reflecting to Blizzard with double pressure, if not triple. No one of us will stop until this happen.

They're actually not obligated. To be obligated means to be inalterably bound by some moral, legal, or social convention, which they are not. It would certainly be the smartest option available to them but they are perfectly free not to do it and to continue pretending that the house isn't burning down around them.

Basically Winterflaw is technically correct, which is the best kind.
