Nostalrius Begins - Quality wow vanilla realm (1.12)

Hey guys,

Just found this in my newsletter from PCgamesn: Read the whole story

“We got to play on the server for a little while,” he divulges. “It's really cool, they did an incredible job of building an experience that feels classic and authentic and that's incredibly hard to do. The painstaking effort it takes to research old videos to try and figure out what the data was because it doesn't exist anymore so you have to pull it out of the nether to put that experience together.

“The leadership team got together and we did a Stratholme run. John Hight [production director on WoW] was a Hunter and had a level eight pet and pulled half the instance, wiped us a few times. It was like, ‘why is the whole instance pulling? Oh it's your level eight pet!’ J [Allen Brack, VP and executive producer] was our priest, he’s like [casting buffs] and then sit and drink for 45 seconds, cast again, sit and drink,” he chuckles. “It's funny, we laugh at all that but it was a very moving experience because it's nostalgic and we all have very fond memories of playing that, that's when we were hardcore and all that stuff.”

Lol, nabs. I mean come on, lvl 8 pet?

Good to know Blizz devs appreciate Nost's work. Awesome stuff!

Playing a max lvl dungeon. I wonder where they got the characters from? Maybe the Nostalrius devs set them up.
I think it's great they tried it out, and saw it for themselves. The level of effort & care by the Nost staff to re-create Vanilla WoW has been incredible, and I was glad to experience it myself. I never thought I'd be able to re-live the Vanilla leveling experience on a high-pop server of such quality.

Nost should have said, "You can't play on it because it's been shutdown. If we're ever allowed to host it again, feel free to create an account."

But ya, it's been a long time since you actually had to stop to drink water eh, ya lazy fuckers?

This ^^ It's apparently too much work/$$ for them to make legacy servers, and they still haven't lifted the lawsuit against nostalrius and just let us play. and their PR team is hinting that they won't make any announcement till blizzcon? Lame.

I've been busy at the gym and trying some other games for the first time ever.

I think they should make their own server or let fan made ones live. Tired of their avoiding the issue.

A Cease&Desist order is only a threat of suing, no actual lawsuit. A lawsuit would have followed, had the Nost team decided to disobey the C&D (which was a right they choose not to seize). Depending on the country a C&D can entail a fine, but I'm not sure if this is the case in France and no such thing was mentioned by Nost team. So not sure what you are on about...

I'm assuming any announcement is 4-5 months away at BlizzCon 2016 in November.

So there will be some more wait-and-see until then. If they don't announce anything at BlizzCon, I think we can assume it isn't going to be happening in the next couple of years.

I'm still hopeful.
