Nost 2 goal to be shut down?

Elysium says that they will ignore any C&D and continue to support a private server until Blizzard officially releases one. Nano's recent blog reinforces this idea saying the ultimate goal is to get Blizzard to officially release legacy servers and the best way to do that is to make private servers super popular.

Essentially, Nost 2 wants to be shut down via a Blizzard announcement that they will proceed with legacy servers. So, if Blizzard makes that announcement six months from now (and it takes them a year to develop it), I wonder if the announcement will be enough for you to shut down Nost 2 for the sake of goodwill etc.

This is a heads up on the question I will be asking tomorrow.

In this context, I think I'll just play my old Nost toons (even though they are far behind) because I don't think you're envisioning this as a long-term project but rather, a project to simply put more pressure on Blizzard.

They did close pretty quick initially to promote legacy to Blizzard. Would they close if Blizzard announces legacy and wanted to consult with Nost folks about implementation?

I would say probably.

And to be clear, this isn't a critique of the Nost team. I get what they're doing. From my selfish perspective, I think I'll avoid "fresh start" because I don't think this project has long-term stability.

If Elysium got so big that Blizzard finally announces legitimate Legacy servers then I won't mind losing my Elysium character anyways, I'll be happy knowing that I was part of Vanilla's revival.

Blizzard is never going to host Classic. The size of Nost didn't do it. The backlash from its shutdown didn't do it. All you got was a dog and pony show for damage control, then they promptly moved on. Even if they did announce it at this point, I'd have a "screen shot or it didn't happen" mentality, and wouldn't flinch until the day the servers actually came up. Because of all the jerking around and years of neglect; I'd never be able to believe it until it actually happened.

This year did make progress in finally getting Blizzard's attention on the matter, but that progress also confirmed they're never going to host. So once Elysium comes back with the accounts, it's time to forget about Blizzard (again). Until retail dies out for good, literally being on its death bed with <1m subs; they will not care about older versions of the game. Even then, they're probably just going to shut down the entire game, then all the retail hypocrite fanboys will bitch and moan that they can't play their panda land anymore, despite mocking us for years and telling us we shouldn't be able to play ours. Eventually, inevitably, they'll lose their ideal version as well, only a matter of time, then they will be in the same boat as all the rest of us, and realize what a bunch of retards they've been.

It's a win/win situation. Either Nost lives 4eva, or Blizzard caves and gives their customers what they want.

But Blizzard's arrogance will likely keep that from ever happening. Because they think that pushing a button to queue up for free rewards like a fucking rat in a cage pulling a lever for a food pellet is what people want.

It is what the majority of players want though, Sevvy. That's the problem. Not only that, but after getting the pellet, they bitch that it isn't big enough. Then they'll bitch that the effort required to pull the lever was too much work, and that it should just be automatic. One day they'll bitch that their character isn't already in the dungeon they want to go to, before they even log on. What'll happen is you'll pre queue up on your phone WoW ap, and when you log in, your character will already be inside the dungeon waiting for you. Then they'll bitch that they had to fight something to get the purples in the first place, so those will eventually be sold on the cash shop. I mean, why not? You already sell max level and gold, you may as well sell the gear at this point too.
